Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center is looking to hire a full time physical therapist assistant to join their team in our Petoskey East and Cheboygan clinic.
As a PT owned, outpatient Physical Therapy practice, serving an active population in northwest Michigan for the past 34 years, we understand the balance between quality work and quality of life. Certified Athletic Trainer
Job Currently Available – Full Time – available positions at varying locations across northern MI
Job description:
This position will be a full time position opening immediately. The primary responsibilities of the ATC will be split clinical and outreach position. These responsibilities will include, after school training room duties, event coverage for all varsity sports, injury prevention and sports enhancement duties for various age groups. This position will also involve clinical responsibilities, such as rehabilitation for orthopedic conditions of all age groups under supervision of a physical therapist and training and instruction for various wellness programs.
This position is a 40 hour position that will include clinical hours, high school responsibilities and game coverage. This position does require evening and weekend responsibilities at varied times.
This position is hourly wage 20-30$/hr.
Requirements for hiring:
- NATA BOC certified
- BS degree in sports medicine/athletic training
- Clinical experience
- High School training room and event coverage experience
- Dependability for transportation
Duties and responsibilities:
Clinical
- Promote excellent and safe patient care under supervision of a physical therapist
- Communicate with all staff in the clinic regarding patient care
- Proficient use of all clinical modalities
- Implement and supervise aquatic rehabilitation
- Assist and instruct various wellness programs
High School Outreach:
- Athlete care at the high school
- Perform pre/post game care
- Identify and evaluate injuries and conditions of athletes

The position would involve direct interaction with patients, physician’s offices, and insurance. We are looking for someone with good phone and computer skills. The position is a full-time position, with no weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide everyone with an exceptional experience at each interaction – including greeting, smiling, tone of voice, and facial expressions.
- Schedule appointments, as well as coordinate multiple appointments using scheduling protocol.
- Check patients in, review and update patient information (name, address, phone number, insurance information, etc.)..
- Set up new patient accounts.

The Billing Assistant tasks include:

NMSMC is looking for a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with minimum of 1yr collegiate experience of designing, implementing, and tracking data for multiple sports to oversee the strength and conditioning program at Petoskey High School.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and supervise strength and conditioning programs for all men’s and women’s sports at Petoskey High School for in-season, off-season, and pre-season periodization schemes.
- Teach strength and conditioning programs and skills as needed to student-athletes, sport coaches, PE teachers at Petoskey High School.
- Be responsible for a coordinated weight training program, in cooperation with the Athletic Director, the head coaches, PE teachers @ Petoskey High School and administration of Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center.
- Plan and schedule a regular program of strength and conditioning in coordination with head coach of each sport as well as PE teachers of Athlete’s PE classes at Petoskey High School.
- Work in cooperation with athletic trainers in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
- Optimizes athlete flow through their workout programs
- Monitors athletes during workouts
- Instruct in and assist with data collection and tracking of workouts of athletes.
- Operate and maintain the weight room at Petoskey High School.
- Cleans and organizes weight room as needed.
- Maintains weight equipment in good working order.
- Set up and monitor all rules and regulations that are to be followed by all users of the Petoskey High School weight room.
- Oversee the safety condition of the weight room facility.

Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field.
