Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center is looking to hire a full time physical therapist assistant to join their team in our Cheboygan clinic.
As a PT owned, outpatient Physical Therapy practice, serving an active population in northwest Michigan for the past 34 years, we understand the balance between quality work and quality of life. Certified Athletic Trainer
Job Currently Available – Full Time – available positions at varying locations across northern MI
Job description:
This position will be a full time position opening immediately. The primary responsibilities of the ATC will be split clinical and outreach position. These responsibilities will include, after school training room duties, event coverage for all varsity sports, injury prevention and sports enhancement duties for various age groups. This position will also involve clinical responsibilities, such as rehabilitation for orthopedic conditions of all age groups under supervision of a physical therapist and training and instruction for various wellness programs.
This position is a 40 hour position that will include clinical hours, high school responsibilities and game coverage. This position does require evening and weekend responsibilities at varied times.
This position is hourly wage 20-30$/hr.
Requirements for hiring:
- NATA BOC certified
- BS degree in sports medicine/athletic training
- Clinical experience
- High School training room and event coverage experience
- Dependability for transportation
Duties and responsibilities:
Clinical
- Promote excellent and safe patient care under supervision of a physical therapist
- Communicate with all staff in the clinic regarding patient care
- Proficient use of all clinical modalities
- Implement and supervise aquatic rehabilitation
- Assist and instruct various wellness programs
High School Outreach:
- Athlete care at the high school
- Perform pre/post game care

The position would involve direct interaction with patients, physician’s offices, and insurance. Tasks would include completing patient registration, patient scheduling, patient chart management, and attaining insurance authorization. We are looking for someone with good phone and computer skills. Candidates must be flexible in their weekly schedule, a multitasker, organized, proficient in computer skills, and have the ability to interact pleasantly with patients to ensure excellent customer service. Attention to detail is an important aspect of this position along with dependability.
The position is a full-time position, with no weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide everyone with an exceptional experience at each interaction – including greeting, smiling, tone of voice, and facial expressions.
- Schedule appointments, as well as coordinate multiple appointments using scheduling protocol.
- Check patients in, review and update patient information (name, address, phone number, insurance information, etc.)..
- Set up new patient accounts.
- Communicate with clinical staff.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and messages.
- Direct patient questions and concerns including bills and insurance to appropriate personnel.

The Billing Assistant tasks include:

Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center is looking to add a team member to the billing department.
Job responsibilities
The Insurance Specialist (IS) will verify eligibility and benefits for all patient insurance policies for all NMSMC locations. When required, the IS will also obtain pre-authorizations via portals and direct contact with insurance companies. IS will work closely with patients to help them understand their coverage and financial responsibility and will inform them of all options available to them to maximize their benefits, as well as continuation of care when benefit limits are met.
The IS will assist patients with the registration process and expedite all documents which are required prior to arrival for their Initial Evaluation. IS will also work closely with front desk staff to ensure a complete and accurate registration process and to assist with determining which forms are required to be completed during the initial evaluation in preparation for requesting pre-authorizations.
In addition, the IS will assist with other tasks in the billing department and provide coverage as needed.
They will serve as a valued member of the health care team, helping patients get the medical care and coverage they need.
Education and Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a healthcare billing setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Working knowledge of healthcare insurance coverage
